Emergency Foodshelf Network

14 September, 2009 (08:20) | Community Action | By: Scott Lohman

This year the board has voted to match a food shelf donation of up to $1000.  The organization we have chosen is the Emergency Foodshelf Network (EFN) whose headquarters is in New Hope.  It has no religious affiliation and has been serving those in need for over three decades in the metro area.  It was formed in 1976 when 15 foodshelves banded together to create the Hennepin Country Emergency Food Shelves.  The goal was allocating and distributing food to foodshelves based on local neighborhood need and demographics. Last year EFN has distributed over 450,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for free and has served over 1,700,000 individuals in need through its network of foodshelves, hot meal programs and community partners.

Hunger preys upon hundreds of thousands our fellow Minnesotans.  The need is escalating for emergency food assistance especially in our metro area suburbs where the number of families and individuals experiencing hunger is increasing at an alarming rate.

Please join us in supporting this worthwhile cause with a donation. The donation is tax deductible. Please use the form below to send in your donation with envelope provided and we will send the total amount to EFN.

Sincerely,

Scott J. Lohman
President
